Bedford to Luton

Former route X1 now becomes Saturn route S1 and maintains the hourly service between Bedford and Luton, generally leaving each end on the hour. On Sundays the service operates every two hours. Between Clophill and Bedford Saturn buses combine with Jupiter route J1 to provide two buses an hour over this section.

Within Luton buses will serve all stops in both directions.

Bedford – Bromham – Turvey – Lavendon – Yardley Hastings – Denton – Northampton

The X2 service is to become pluto!

The route is being dramatically accelerated in order to provide a fast hourly link on Mondays to Saturdays between the town centres of Bedford and Northampton, serving the villages directly along the line of route.

Separate arrangements are being made by Bedfordshire County Council to provide services between Bromham and Bedford and by Milton Keynes City Council to provide buses between Olney and Bedford.

The present diversion going towards Bedford via Yardley Hastings will be withdrawn and buses will serve a new stop on the A428.

Buses will run every three hours on Sundays, connecting at Bedford with service X5 for Oxford and Cambridge and at Northampton with service X7 to Leicester.

Bedford – Sharnbrook – Rushden - Wellingborough -Kettering

Route 50 becomes Mercury route M50 and the route between Bedford and Rushden is altered, as are departure times.

The new route from Bedford is via Clapham, Milton Ernest, Radwell, Felmersham and Sharnbrook, where the route is via Odell Road, High Street, Canal Hill and Templars Way to the A6. The frequency remains at every hour, although check your departure times as these have changed.

Services 52 and 53 will be replaced by a combination of Mercury route 50 and new minibus route 51.

Bedford to Oakley & Clapham circular

51 will operate every 20 minutes throughout the day (Mondays to Saturdays) on a circular loop from Bedford Bus Station via Clapham High Street, Highbury Grove, Knights Avenue, Mount Pleasant Road, High Street, Oakley Road, Oakley (Lovell Road), Station Road, High Street, Church Lane, Lovell Road, Clapham (Oakley Road), High Street, Mount Pleasant Road, Knights Avenue and Highbury Road back to Bedford.

Initially, from 23^rd July, route 51 will be operated by step entrance minibuses but these are to be replaced within a few months by new fully accessible vehicles provided in co-operation with Bedfordshire County Council.

Bedford – Flitwick - Ampthill and Dunstable

Current routes 142, 143 and 144 will be replaced by two new services:

J1 will run hourly from Bedford Bus station at 30 minutes past the hour via Elstow, Wilstead, Clophill, Maulden, Ampthill and Flitwick continuing via Toddington and Houghton Regis to Dunstable. Between Flitwick and Dunstable the service level is virtually doubled from every two hours to roughly every hour (though at varying times past the hour).

In Clophill the route taken is slightly altered on the journey towards Bedford by the omission of the stop at Hall End. All buses to Bedford pick up at Clophill Green.

Between Clophill and Bedford Jupiter buses on route J1 and Saturn buses on route S1 (to and from Luton) will provide a half hourly frequency to Bedford Bus Station.

All these times and details refer to Monday to Saturday daytimes.

Service J2 will provide a half hourly direct link between Bedford Bus Station and Flitwick via Houghton Conquest and Ampthill. This doubles the current frequency along this direct route between Bedford and Ampthill/Flitwick.

Bedford - Wootton and Cranfield University

Route 158 is re-named Venus service V1. The route remains exactly the same as at present except that the frequency through to Cranfield University is increased to every half hour and Field Road, Wootton is no longer served during the day. Evening and Sunday services are unchanged.
