Children from 5 up to 13 years old can travel at half fare on Stagecoach buses in East Kent., during the off-peak. (Off-peak means any time up to 2200hrs on Saturdays and Sundays and in school holidays AND from 0845 - 1500hrs and 1630 - 2200hrs on school days.)
Children in years 9 to 11 can also get half fares off-peak by applying for a free DISCOUNT ID card to show drivers that they qualify for a reduced fare.
Without the ID card, the full fare may be charged at the driver's discretion.
The DISCOUNT ID card lasts until the end of the school year of your 16th birthday, and is also available to younger children on request.
You will need to complete a DISCOUNT ID card application form, available to download below, or alternatively from the Stagecoach Travel Shop in Canterbury bus station or by calling 08456 00 22 99.
The completed application form and a passport photograph will both need to be stamped by your school. Then, either take the form in person to the Stagecoach Travel Shop or post to the FREEPOST address as shown on the form.Click here to download a Discount ID application form
Young people, aged 16 & 17, who still have a valid Connexions Card may use it to travel for half fare between 1800 and 2200hrs on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays.
Kent County Council have launched a new ticket to allow unlimited bus travel for just £50 a year.
Freedom passes are valid for use on all Stagecoach in East Kent local bus routes, except:
Routes 4X and 6X, but can be used to board route 6X at 1450 at Barton Court Grammar School.
Route 160 from Grebe Crescent at 0755 between Prince of Wales and Seabrook (Cliff Road).
