Lincoln City Football Club and Stagecoach East Midlands have teamed up to provide free bus travel for Lincoln City Football Club season ticket holders on Saturday and evening home match days to help fans reach the Sincil Street ground much more easily.
The offer applies throughout the 2007/2008 football season.
The offer will apply on home match days only to bus services operating to and from the following area:
All Stagecoach services within the City of Lincoln, and from Sudbrooke, Welton, Dunholme, Nettleham, North Hykeham, Waddington, Bracebridge Heath, Branston, Washingborough, Heighington, Cherry Willingham, Reepham, Fiskerton, and Skellingthorpe.
For Saturday matches the offer will apply to journeys into the city centre after 1000hrs up to the start of the match, and outbound journeys from the city centre from the end of the match until the end of service on that day.
For evening games the offer will apply to journeys into the city centre after 1800hrs up to the start of the match, and outbound journeys from the city centre from the end of the match until the end of service on that day.
To obtain free travel season ticket holders will need to show their current valid season ticket book to the driver of the bus, who will check the validity and then issue a ticket for the journey being made.
City’s Chief Executive Officer, Dave Roberts, said he was delighted to announce the deal with Stagecoach:
"This is a ground breaking agreement, and one that will give benefits to our season ticket holders and encourage people to use public transport, which can only be good for the environment. We would like to thank Stagecoach, who have been very professional during negotiations. It will mean that season ticket holders will show their book on a match day as they get on a Stagecoach bus within the designated area and then will be issued with a bus ticket for travel free of charge."
Stagecoach East Midlands Commercial Director, Dave Skepper, said:
"This is an innovative scheme to encourage city people to use buses as an alternative to taking the car to matches, helping to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in Lincoln on Saturdays. We’re very pleased to be working with Lincoln City Football Club to introduce this benefit to season ticket holders, and we wish the Team every success in the forthcoming 2007/8 season."
