East London and Selkent are the two trading names of the East London Bus Group Limited, which incorporates the East London Bus and Coach Company Limited and the South East London and Kent Bus Company Limited.

The two companies began trading on 1st April 1989 under London Buses Limited and were acquired by the Stagecoach Group in September 1994 following the privatisation of the London Buses' subsidiary companies.  On Wednesday, 30 August 2006, Stagecoach Group sold the two companies to Macquarie Bank of Australia for £264million.

We operate 50 million miles per year and carry in the region of 300 million passengers per annum on a modern fleet of fully accessible, low floor buses. We employ about 4500 staff and operate around 1275 buses. Our aim, working in partnership with Transport for London, is to provide safe and reliable bus services for our passengers and this has contributed to the 9% growth in passenger numbers on the London bus network.

Our staff are professionally trained and as part of our commitment to staff development many have completed, or are working towards, either BTEC or NVQ qualifications in their specialised fields. This includes managers, supervisors, drivers and engineering staff alike.

Our Head Office is in Ilford and we operate bus services on behalf of London Buses from ten bus garages - Barking, Bow, Bromley, Catford, Leyton, Plumstead, Romford, Stratford, Upton Park and Waterden Road.
