Stagecoach is one of the largest bus operators in the UK and is playing a leading role in driving passenger growth on public transport across the country.
Stagecoach Merseyside was established in July 2005 to take over the former operations of Glenvale Transport. We run services throughout the city of Liverpool, together with regular links to places such as St. Helens. Continued focus on key routes has seen bus usage continually grow, with more and more people opting to take the bus rather than the car. In the years since the takeover of Glenvale, we've been working hard to improve our fleet, reliability and general standards of operation.
Since July 2005, we've bought 75 brand new low-floor buses to upgrade services and taken good quality used vehicles from other Stagecoach subsidiaries to improve the quality of the fleet. Our fleet is continually being upgraded with most vehicles on our key high-frequency Liverpool routes being easy-access by the summer. Easy access buses feature step-free entrances, room for buggies and wheelchair access.
Stagecoach Merseyside is committed to providing value for money bus travel offering a range of great value single tickets, together with the Dayrider. Reduced rate tickets are also available for children, senior citizens and other concessionary pass holders.
We hope our customers have noticed the difference since we arrived in Merseyside and we look forward to continually improving the quality of service we provide across the region.
In recognition of the progress the business has made since GTL days, we have been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2007 UK Bus Awards, as City Operator of the Year! While we didn't win the top prize (which went to Lothian Buses of Edinburgh), we are really pleased to have been nominated in recognition of the improved service we now offer to our loyal customers in Liverpool.
We now also publish an Annual Report, detailing our performance in several key areas.
