Stagecoach Group plc announced that its recently acquired Merseyside bus has benefited from a multi-million-pound investment in new vehicles. A £6.5 million fleet of 75 state-of-the art low-floor buses has been introduced on services formerly operated by Glenvale Transport Limited only a few months after Stagecoach bought the business.
Stagecoach has now placed orders for nearly 600 new vehicles for its UK bus operations in 2005-06, with a total value of more than £60 million. Les Warneford Managing Director for Stagecoach UK Bus, said: “These new vehicles will deliver a step-change in the quality of service to our passengers and this investment is a clear sign of our commitment to public transport in Merseyside. “We believe we have a winning combination of investment, innovation, strong marketing, first-class customer service and operational expertise that can attract more people back on board the bus and build a successful local business.
Stagecoach operates nearly 300 vehicles and employs around 800 people in Merseyside.
