Due to roadworks on Blackett Street by Newcastle City Council, buses which would normally operate along this road will need to be temporarily diverted on consecutive Sundays between 0900 – 1600 (approx), and will need to use some different stops in the city centre area. These works will commence on Sunday 1 June 2008, and will last for upto 5 consecutive Sundays
Westbound:
Services 12, 39/40, 62/63 will stop at Market Street Police Station, and Market Street opposite Central Arcade, then normal Gallowgate stops.
Service X47 will stop at New Bridge Street, and Market Street opposite Central Arcade then non-stop to Cowgate.
This will mean westbound buses on these routes will not stop on John Dobson Street South or Blackett Street.
Eastbound:
Services 12, 39/40, 62/63 will stop on Market Street outside Central Arcade, and at New Bridge Street Halifax, then normal stops.
Service 100 will stop on Pilgrim Street, and at then the normal Central Station stop.
This will mean eastbound buses on these routes will not stop on Gallowgate or Blackett Street.
City Sightseeing Red Route will divert from Barras Bridge via St.Mary's Place, John Dobson Street, then normal route (not being able to serve Percy Street or Blackett Street).
City Sightseeing Blue Route will divert from Grainger Street via Market Street, Pilgrim Street, New Bridge Street West, John Dobson Street, then normal route (not being able to serve Newgate Street or Blackett Street).
As a consequence of the additional mileage that is required by these diversions, there is a possibility services may be delayed. Stagecoach apologise for any inconvenience these delays may cause, which is due to circumstances beyond our control.
