Stagecoach in the Highlands in conjunction with The Highland Council are planning to introduce an improved network of services in March 2011 and are holding public consultations to gain feedback on the proposed changes from passengers across the area.
Staff will be available as follows:
Tue 14th Dec - Kingussie Badenoch Centre 0930 - 1130
Wed 15th Dec - Carrbridge Cairn Hotel 0930 - 1130
- Boat of Garten Village Hall 1230 - 1430
Thu 16th Dec - Aviemore Cairngorm Hotel 0930 - 1130
- Grantown on Spey Service point 1330 - 1530
A summary of the main changes are shown below:
It is proposed to alter Services 15/15X to operate Inverness - Carrbridge - Aviemore This proposal will increase the frequency and provide a faster journey from the Spey Valley to Inverness . The service will operate direct from Aviemore allowing for connections at Carrbridge servicing Boat Of Garten, Nethy Bridge and Grantown. Through fares will be provided on connecting buses.
New service 31 is proposed to provide a link from Aviemore to Cairngorm. Although buses will no longer operate through to Grantown the change will enhance reliability throughout the Valley as buses will no longer be subject to delays incurred on the Hill and Glenmore areas. The proposal also incorporates buses to Dalfaber.
The review provides for existing Services 33 and 36 to be replaced by new Service 32 and existing Service 34 to provide a service from Carrbridge to Grantown. The section of route between Grantown and Tormore will generally be served by school buses. The Grantown dial a ride will provide a facility to replace this service in the off peak.
As many of our customers will know the linking of buses from Grantown across Aviemore to Cairngorm has caused reliability problems. To improve the service we offer our customers it is proposed that Service 34 would only operate between Aviemore and Grantown. It would continue from Grantown to Carrbridge to provide connections into the improved Service 15 service. It is proposed that Dalfaber will be incorporated into the new Service 31.
A significant improvement is proposed for the Newtonmore and Kingussie areas with the introduction of extra journeys from to and Aviemore. The proposed service will offer connections at Aviemore to Inverness with through fares available.
