New timetable proposals for August 2012

Stagecoach in the Highlands would like to appeal to customers across Inverness-shire to comment on new bus timetable proposals to commence in Mid August.

In late 2010 a major exercise was carried out on the Inverness city network to improve reliability and equate the services with demand in relevant areas of the city.

Following the previous successful consultation exercise and to take account of the growth in customer numbers on a number of services, we are taking the opportunity to further improve a number of services.

Among the many improvements are:
• Improved service between Leachkin Road and the City running up to every 10 minutes.
• Improved service to Wester Craigs with buses running up to every 20 minutes rather the present 30 minute frequency.
• Improved service to Culloden Road Westhill with the frequency improved from every 30 minutes to a bus running up to every 20 minutes.
• Improved service between the City and Culduthel Farm with buses running up to every 20 minutes.
• Improved service between the City and Milton Of Leys with buses running up to every 20 minutes.
• New links to the new ASDA store at Culduthel on Services 4, 5 and 7.
• Better links to Raigmore Hospital from the Balloch area.
• Maintain all existing evening and Sunday frequencies with improvements in Sunday services to Old and New Hilton, Culduthel Farm, Smithton, Culloden, Balloch and South Kessock.
• In some cases additional time has been built into timetables to ensure the routes can operate reliably where there are still some issues.
• A greatly improved Sunday service will be introduced on the Inverness – Cromarty route.

Although we have been pleased to note that we are now seeing growth in quite a number of our services, unfortunately there are still a number of areas where the cost of operation far outweighs the use of the route. In most cases like this we have been able to maintain the service at a loss but in a small number of areas it is no longer commercially viable to maintain the services and we may have to withdraw journeys.

Full details of the proposed timetable changes are shown below.  If you would like to comment on any of the proposals please email highland.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com, drop in sessions in various areas of the city will also take place to provide opportunities to comment. In order for us to make relevant changes to these proposals based on customer feedback, we would ask that any comments be provided by 14th June 2012.

You can also click to download the full draft timetables and draft network map.
