Information about buses across Oxfordshire during the event on 9th and 10th July 2012.

There will be various road closures and service disruption throughout Oxfordshire on 9th and 10th July 2012 due to the Torch Relay Event.

As the event passes through the County we will be diverting services as the relay progresses, and returning to normal as soon as possible once it has passed. The planned schedule of events is listed below, but please keep an eye on our Twitter feed which will be staying online to give updates on the progress as the times may be subject to change.

9th July 2012

1444 Bicester

Buses will be unable to serve Market Square and Queens Avenue, instead running directly from Bicester Village to Glory Farm/Launton/Langford/Arncott and returning via Bicester Town Centre after the torch has passed.

1531 Woodstock

There may be a few minutes delay to buses on routes S3 and 242. In addition, route 242 may be delayed as Market Square will be closed for the whole day.

1638 Kidlington

Oxford Road will be closed between 1500 and 1700. During this time buses will be unable to serve Grovelands or High Street. 

Buses on routes 2, 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D will serve Bicester Road, Evans Lane, Mill Street, The Moors and the Airport unless congestion prevents it.

Buses on route S4 will be unable to serve Kidlington, with the nearest alternatives at Thrupp Turn or Water Eaton Park & Ride.

Buses on route S5 from the JR Hospital will only serve Bicester Road, Kings Arms in Kidlington.

1739-1810 Blackbird Leys & Cowley

Buses on routes 1, 10 and 12 will be unable to serve Cowley Road between 1730 and 1930, and will serve Abingdon Road, Donnington Bridge and Iffley Road. Buses will depart the City Centre from outside the Town Hall, opposite the normal stops in St Aldates.

Buses on route 1 will run from Iffley Road along the bypass to Garsington Road, Cuddesdon Way and Pegasus Road and will be unable to serve Cowley Centre or Blackbird Leys Road.

Buses on route 10 will run from Iffley Road along the bypass to Garsington Road, and be unable to serve Cowley Centre. The nearest alternative for Cowley Centre will be on Hollow Way.

Buses on route 12 will run directly from Iffley Road to Grenoble Road and Brake Hill. Buses will be unable to serve Acacia Avenue, Plover Drive, Long Ground or Cowley Centre until the roads are reopened.

Buses on route 16 will be unable to serve Cowley Centre or Bartholomew Road, the nearest alternative stop will be on Crowell Road.

Buses on route 20 will be unable to serve Oxford Business Park, and will run from Cowley Centre to Unipart using the bypass and Watlington Road.

1730-1930 The Plain & St. Clements

Buses on routes 1, 3, 8, 9, 10, 12 will be unable to serve High Street or The Plain. See above for routes 1, 10 & 12.

Buses on route 3 will be unable to serve the part of Iffley Road between the City Centre and Donnington Bridge.

Buses on routes 8 & 9 will be unable to serve St Clements, Headington Hill or Brookes University Headington Campus. The nearest alternatives will be Castle Street or the stops at the White Horse pub in Headington.

1930-2030

All services will return to the normal routes as soon as The Plain and St. Clements reopen, but delays may continue for the following hour.

 

10th July 2012

Buses on routes 3 will be unable to serve Iffley Road until approximately 0730, and will stop along Church Cowley Road and Cowley Road instead.

Buses on route 16 will be unable to serve Florence Park, Donnington Bridge or Abingdon Road until approximately 0730, and will stop along Cowley Road instead.

Buses on route 31 will be unable to serve Abingdon or Bagley Wood between 0741 and 0803, with buses using the A34 to/from Oxford instead. This will affect the 0705 from Wantage and 0730 from Oxford. Buses will only call at the Fairacres Tesco stops in Abingdon inbetween the A34 and Marcham.
