David Munro, Executive Member for Transport at Surrey County Council and Andrew Dyer, Managing Director at Stagecoach South flew kites to launch 6 new environmentally friendly buses for an enhanced route between Aldershot and Guildford.
The popular route 20 that operates between the towns via Tongham, Ash and Normandy has been re-branded as the Kite route and the frequency of buses increased from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes until the evening Mondays to Saturdays.
Euro standards since 1997 have progressively decreased the amount of pollutants a diesel engine can legally emit, making the engines cleaner and greener. The new M. A. N. single deck buses meet the latest Euro 4 standard which dictates the maximum exhaust emission levels for a wide range of pollutants. Andrew Dyer says that he is confident that the £550,000 investment in the improved route will be appreciated by bus users.
“These new wheelchair accessible M. A. N. buses are not only environmentally friendly but also people friendly. The new interior layout has comfortable, well spaced seating and low floors make for easy access for parents with baby buggies.”
