Over the last ten years, we have invested more than £36m on 339 easyACCESS buses for customers throughout the North East. easyACCESS buses now account for over half of our entire fleet, and this number is rising each year.
All new buses purchased by Stagecoach North East will be easyACCESS buses.
easyACCESS buses feature:
- Low entrances that kneel to kerb height.
- Flat floor at the front.
- Special buggy parking area.
- Space for a wheelchair.
- Clean and spacious interiors.
Our drivers are also specially trained to help everyone enjoy the full benefits of these buses.
To help make travelling on easyACCESS buses a great experience for everyone, please follow these ‘travel tips’:
Parents with buggies...
- Park your buggy with your child’s back to the direction of travel.
- Be prepared to fold your buggy if the buggy parking area is full.
- Give up the buggy parking area to wheelchair users if they require the space.
Other passengers...
- Don’t sit in the buggy parking area if the space is needed for buggies.
Motorists...
- Please don’t park on or near bus stops. It prevents the driver getting close to the kerb, which he needs to do so that people with buggies and wheelchair users can get on and off the bus.
For people with disabilities...
We aim to offer a consistently high standard of service to all our customers and ensure that as many people as possible are able to make use of our services.

Company Policy regarding Wheelchairs and Mobility scooters
Stagecoach UK Bus policy is to carry Mobility Scooters at the Company’s discretion. Drivers and customers therefore need clear interim guidance as to which scooters we can safely accept.
Stagecoach Interim Acceptance Criteria is to allow 3 or 4 wheel Class 2 scooters provided they are no more than 600mm wide and 1000mm long, with a maximum turning radius not exceeding 1200mm.
If in doubt, please contact our Disability Helpdesk on 01522 580 515. If necessary, they can arrange a "Test Boarding" to ensure that the scooter is within the acceptable guidelines.
