Closure of Dovedale Road in Dene Estate from Monday 3 November 2008 until around April 2009 | 29 October 2008
We have been advised that Dovedale Road in Dene Estate will be closed during Monday to Friday daytimes from Monday 3 November 2008 until around April 2009 due to the installation of a new sewer system. Although the precise dates of these works may vary, it is clear that Monday to Friday daytime Service 23 trips will not be able to operate via their normal Dovedale Road route. Monday to Friday daytime Service 23 will instead need to operate via Station Road and Alston Crescent in both directions, not serving Dovedale Road.
Stagecoach apologise for any inconvenience these roadworks may cause, which are due to circumstances beyond our control.
Changes to Services 20 and 22, 23, 24 from Sunday 16 November 2008 | 15 October 2008
Services 22, 23, 24: These routes are revised, with all buses running as Service 23, providing a frequent link to Dene Estate - Fulwell Road - City Centre - Thornholme Road - Durham Road - Springwell - Thorney Close. Buses will run every 10 mins during Monday to Saturday daytimes, and every 30 mins during evening and Sunday times. Although Services 22 and 24 will be withdrawn, Service E6 will continue to operate along Dykelands Road to Seaburn Morrisons every 20 minutes. To improve reliability and reduce journey times, Service 23 towards Thorney Close will not serve Park Lane Interchange - the closest alternative stop is handily located just around the corner on Holmeside. Buses towards Dene Estate will not operate along Gladstone Street - these buses will instead run along the Sunderland Retail Park Link Road. We're also pleased to announce that during early 2009, low-floor easyAccess buses will be introduced onto all Service 23 journeys. To view the new timetable for Service 23, please click here
Service 20: To improve the times of evening and Sunday buses from Royal Hospital to the City Centre, Service 20 will operate approximately 5 minutes earlier in both directions.
