It's here and it's coming to a Supertram stop near you very soon! Supertram vehicles are currently going through a massive "refresh" program to improve the look and accessibility of both the interior and exterior of our 25 trams. Many of you will have already noticed some of the improvements already made to selected trams such as the new destination displays and GPS positioning for the announcements which means no more annoying wrong stop announcements.

The first of our fully completed, new look trams was seen for the first time on 27 January 2006. The rest of our 25 strong fleet will be "refreshed" over the coming months.

Each vehicle will take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete and the improvements are quite wide ranging. Besides the obvious change which is our striking new livery, there are other major changes to the interior. The old grey plastic has been changed to a much brighter light cream colour, all of the grab rail colours have been changed to conform with current legislation, there is new flooring and seating and even the interior lighting has been made more pleasing to the eye. The seating in the low floor area of the tram has also been drastically changed to meet the latest legislation for people with disabilites.
