On Monday 25th February 2008 Stagecoach West Scotland launched a fleet of spectacular new coaches on their X76 Cumnock to Glasgow express route.
MSP Cathy Jamieson was at the Bus Station to cut the ribbon and launch the first luxury coach on its way to Glasgow. The tri-axle Volvo B12B Plaxton Panther coaches are 15m long and have a seating capacity of 57, all fitted with seatbelts for comfort and safety. CCTV is also installed in these vehicles and the cost of each coach is over £280,000! A total of eight vehicles will eventually be in operation in the area.
This is not the end of Stagecoach’s investment in the Cumnock area. By April this year there will be an upgrade to the vehicles operating on local routes and a fleet of new Enviro 300 low floor buses will be introduced under the brand “Connect Cumnock.” There will also be a revision of services in the area throughout April and May in order to provide a better level of service to the local community.
