About Us
On 14 December 2005, Stagecoach acquired Traction Group Limited.

Yorkshire Traction was the sixth largest operator of bus services in the UK, with operations centred on South and West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Tayside. All of which became part of Stagecoach UK Bus, and all vehicles are to be rebranded in Stagecoach livery over the next two to three years.

On 16 July 2006, the Megarider, Dayrider & Goldrider range of tickets were launched in Barnsley - demonstrating Stagecoach Yorkshire's commitment to improving local bus travel and its focus on real value-for-money bus travel.

On 20 May 2007 Stagecoach launched a new look bus network in the region, coving the areas of Sheffield, Barnsley, the Dearne Valley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Wakefield, Pontefract and Huddersfield.
The changes included a number of new routes, extended routes and timetable changes to improve reliability and improve frequency on some services.
Our consultation process took into account feedback from key stakeholders, including the Passenger Transport Executives in South and West Yorkshire, customers, staff and councillors.

Stagecoach Yorkshire is committed to delivering a reliable, clean and affordable service to passengers and has delivered this by simplifying bus routes, refining timetables and continuing to improve vehicle presentation and quality.

Passengers should now find a huge improvement in our services, but we continue to strive to make these services even better over time.

Stagecoach UK Bus connects communities in over 100 towns and cities in the UK, running a fleet of around 7,000 buses and coaches that is one of the largest in the country. Its services play an important role in delivering social inclusion, helping people in rural and urban areas access work, education, health, shopping and leisure, with two million passengers travelling on Stagecoach services every day.

Putting customers first is our priority. We continue to focus closely on the recruitment and training of our people, as well as improved passenger information.

Our UK Bus division is a major employer, providing jobs for 18,000 people at a number of regional companies.

We are working hard to increase the quality, reliability and frequency of bus services to offer car users a realistic transport alternative and help cut congestion. Bus priority measures are crucial to achieving this objective and our local management teams work in close partnership with local authorities to improve local services.
