Stagecoach bus strike called off
Stagecoach Yorkshire will be operating a normal network across South and West Yorkshire on Monday (19 November) after a planned one day strike by drivers was called off.
It will be business as usual for services operating from Stagecoach’s Barnsley depots on Upper Sheffield Road and in Shafton, and also Rawmarsh, Doncaster and Huddersfield.
Drivers were planning industrial action over a pay dispute - but this has now been cancelled after Stagecoach Yorkshire offered a revised pay arrangement.
A ballot will be held for drivers to vote on the offer.
Three further one day strikes remain scheduled for Mondays 26 November, 3 December and 10 December, if the offer is rejected. Stagecoach services in Sheffield and Chesterfield will not be affected by any planned industrial action.
Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: "We have offered the drivers a revised pay arrangement on condition that the planned strike on Monday 19 November is called off."
"Our priority is our passengers and it is pleasing that we have been able to avert any service disruptions next week and that we will be in a position to operate a full network across the region."
