Barnsley bus passengers to benefit from £1m investment
Bus users in Barnsley are to benefit from a new fleet of hi-tech vehicles costing almost £1m.
Stagecoach Yorkshire is introducing ten low-floor, easy access buses for its services in Cudworth and Grimethorpe.
MP for Barnsley Central, Eric Illsley, and Jeff Ennis, MP for Barnsley East and Mexborough, will help launch the new fleet at a special community event at the Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre, in Cudworth, on Friday 25 January.
It included opportunities for members of the public to enjoy a mini-tour of one of the new vehicles.
The MAN/E300 vehicles meet tough Euro IV emissions standards, marking a real move forward for public transport in the area. They are designed to be fully accessible to elderly passengers, people with disabilities and families with young children.
Paul Lynch, Managing Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: The new buses are all part of our commitment to give our customers clean, reliable and affordable public transport and to make the travelling experience as pleasant as possible.
There are environmental benefits, too, because the buses conform to the highest standards of emission and are easily accessible to the disabled, our elderly passengers and also mums and dads with young children and pushchairs.
