Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Road, Manchester, M15 6ER

The Whitworth Art Gallery is part of the University of Manchester.  It is home to some of the UK's finest collections of art and design including modern and historic fine art, prints, textiles and a rare collection of wallpapers.

Hat Works Museum, Wellington Mill, Wellington Road South, Stockport, SK3 0EU

Hat works is the UK's only museum dedicated solely to the hatting industry, hats and headwear!
Hat Works focuses on the development of the hatting industry from its humble beginnings in the cottage industry to the mass production of the early 19th century.
During the school holidays Hat Works offers an exiting programme of daily workshops for children

Stockport Air Raid Shelters, Chestergate, Stockport SK1 1NE

Experience life as it was during a 'black out' in war torn Britain
A labyrinth of tunnels under part of the town centre provided shelter, and a way of life, for families from Stockport and roundabout, through the dark days of the Blitz.
Family Tours and Self Guided Tours: £4.05 - Adults, £3.05 - Concessions / under 16s
The entrance to the shelters is 5 mins walk from Stockport Bus Station.

Shipshape Summer: Imperial War Museum North, The Quays, Trafford Park, Manchester

Shipshape Summer is packed with family fun – from craft to theatrical performances in the learning studio.
Activities include; Craft sessions, make your own sailor. Decorate your own wind-up clockwork character. A ship’s mascot or a sailor. You decide!
Ship shape paper modeling.
The chance to make and decorate your own ship using the ancient art of origami. Get a feel for historic naval items in the object handing sessions, watch dramatic films and footage from Imperial War Museum’s Archive.
Daily until 31 August, between 1pm and 4pm. Admission FREE
