Extra buses for Lincoln Christmas Market shoppers

16 Nov 2016

Extra bus services will help shoppers make the most of this year’s Christmas Market in Lincoln.

With thousands of shoppers expected to enjoy this year’s four day market in the city’s medieval square, Stagecoach East Midlands is ensuring extra buses and extended service times are in place to help beat the congestion.

The market, which will feature over 300 stalls, runs from Thursday December 1 to Sunday December 4.
Claire McDowall, Principal Events and Culture Officer for City Council, said: “Stagecoach provided extra buses for the Christmas market last year and once again, they are bringing back the services again. Using the local bus services from Stagecoach is an easy way to travel to the market. We hope that both locals and visitors take advantage of the services including the park and ride from the Lincolnshire showground.”

Bus services 7 and 8 will serve the market with extra services being provided in the evening. All services will run from Stand G at the Tentercroft Street Bus Station and Broadgate to Pottergate at the Cathedral.

Andy Smith, Stagecoach East Midlands Commercial Manager South, said: “The annual Christmas market is always an extremely popular event. We’re pleased to be able to provide these extra services to help ease traffic congestion in the city centre and to make life easier for shoppers by taking the stress away from parking.”
