Coronavirus Update Close

In line with the latest government guidance, we've put in place further measures in England to help customers practice social distancing. This includes limiting the available seats on buses.

Face coverings are compulsory when using public transport in England and Scotland. In Wales you must wear a 3 layer face covering on public transport and put it on before travelling unless you are exempt. It is also now compulsory to wear face coverings when using indoor public transport hubs in England only.

The safety of our customers and employees is our priority, so please avoid busy times, use contactless payment and take your litter with you. For up to date information see our Coronavirus page

Stagecoach East Midlands shortlisted in two categories at UK Bus Awards

14 Oct 2016

Regional bus operator, Stagecoach East Midlands, has been shortlisted for not one, but two awards at this years UK Bus Awards.

Stagecoach East Midlands is a finalist in the Top Shire Operator and the Bus and Community Award category for their Skegness Seasiders team.

The Seasiders are nine individual liveried open top buses presented as named characters with classic seaside themes, which provide accessible transport between the top tourist destinations of Skegness and Ingoldmells.

Staff at Skegness have used the popularity of the Seasiders to raise thousands of pounds for charitable causes to improve the quality of life for local people, especially those finding themselves in difficult circumstances.

This is the Seasiders second achievement at the UK Bus Awards having previously won Gold Marketing Initiative of the Year in 2014.

Stagecoach East Midlands have been shortlisted for the Top Shire Operator after their success in running routes outside the region’s major cities.

Michelle Hargreaves, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “I am delighted to announce that Stagecoach East Midlands has been shortlisted for two categories at this years UK Bus Awards. It’s a delight if we are nominated for just one but two is incredible and reflects on the hard work that every single member of the team produce daily.

“I’d like to congratulate all Stagecoach East Midlands employees and would like to thank the public for being such great fans of the Skegness Seasiders. Your loyalty has helped us raise an incredible amount of money for various charities.”

With a total of 12 shortlisted entries from across the country at the 2016 UK Bus Awards, Stagecoach is in the running for UK Bus Operator of the Year.

The company is also recognised for operations, new services, marketing, community and environment at the annual awards, with winners due to be announced at a ceremony in London next month.
