Stagecoach introduce state of the art vehicles on popular X62 Hull to Leeds service

16 Nov 2017

Stagecoach East Midlands have today announced increased capacity on their X62 service that connects Hull to Leeds via Brough and Goole by upgrading to high specification vehicles.

Boosting seating capacity from 49 to 76 seats, the double decker buses will immediately begin operating the service and run under the brand ‘SimpliExpress’.

The X62 route was introduced in 1996 in response to customer’s demands to have a cost-effective, frequent and efficient alternative transport service from Hull to Leeds.

Booked in advance, prices travelling by bus start as little as £1.50 one way including booking fee, compared with train prices booked in advance at £13; an 866% increase.

Fitted with environmentally friendly Euro 6 engines, the buses have luxury high backed e-leather seats and USB charging points to make sure customers ride in comfort and have power to all of their electronic devices for access to emails, travel information and social media while they are on the move.

X62 operates 3 times a day Mon-Fri through peak periods with increased frequency on Saturdays, serving Hull Interchange – Hull Royal Infirmary – North Ferriby – Brough – Goole – Eggborough – Glasshoughton and Leeds.

Jon Donnelly, Commercial Manager for the North, said: “We have invested over £2.6m in new vehicles for Hull using the most up to date buses, bringing greater comfort for our customers but also minimizing the impact of our operations on the environment.

“The X62 service has proved to be popular, by listening and responding to our passengers needs, we are delighted to be able to provide comfortable, high specification vehicles on this popular route that provides an essential alternative to other transport methods.”
