£3.12M INVESTMENT IN NEW LUXURY COACHES FOR STAGECOACH EXPRESS FLEET
Stagecoach East Scotland have announced the investment of £3.12m in a fleet of new coaches for the company's St Andrews to Edinburgh express service.
The 12 new vehicles, will be introduced to X58 and X60 routes later this month serving St Andrews, Leven, Kirkcaldy, Dalgety Bay, Ferrytoll Park & Ride and Edinburgh.
The route will continue to run twice every hour providing regular coach links through Fife.
Minor timetable changes on 23rd November will mean that the 0610 St Andrews to Kirkcaldy (Monday to Friday) journey will run 5 minutes earlier, the Saturday morning 0715 Kirkcaldy to Leven journey will be withdrawn and the daily 2355 St Andrews to Leven journey will run 15 minutes later. These services will also begin using new bus stops at Bernards Smithy, West Lodge on the B9157 between Kirkcaldy and Dalgety Bay.
The Plaxton Elite coaches have free wi-fi, power sockets, air conditioning, an on board toilet and leather reclining seats for up to 49 passengers or 47 passengers and 1 wheelchair.
Andrew Jarvis, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: "The 12 new vehicles for the X58 and X60 Express City Connect routes are fitted with leather reclining seats, free wi-fi, power sockets and air conditioning. It's important that we continue investing in our fleet across East Scotland and make improvements wherever we can to provide luxury travel for our passengers."
The vehicles join the company's award winning Express City Connect network connecting towns and cities across Fife and into Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Glasgow and serve either or both Halbeath and Ferrytoll Park and Ride sites.
Stagecoach will be holding launch events on Friday 13th November, 11am-2pm on South Street, St Andrews and 11am-2pm outside Kirkcaldy Town House to showcase the new vehicles and provide route information and giveaways to the communities the route will serve.
