Coronavirus Update Close

National lockdown restrictions are in place across England until 2 December but bus services are running as normal. You should only travel for work, education or other permitted reasons.

In South Wales, all of our timetables will go back to what we were running before the 'firebreak' lockdown. There will also be some timetable changes to a number of Aberdare services to improve connectivity.

The new tier system is in operation across Scotland, but if you need to travel, make sure you're up-to-date with what's happening in your area by checking the local government guidance.

We've put in place measures to allow you to travel safely including limiting available seats on buses and enhanced cleaning. Unless you’re exempt, you must wear a face covering throughout your journey. Please avoid busy times, use contactless payment where you can, keep your distance and take your litter with you. Stay up to date on our Coronavirus page.

Stagecoach improves wheelchair accessibility on public transport in East Scotland

17 Jul 2018

A unique addition to the Stagecoach Express City Connect Network, Stagecoach East Scotland have announced an investment of 5 innovative new coaches for the Perth fleet which will operate along the popular X56 service from Perth to Edinburgh from mid July.

The Plaxton Panther LE coaches are an innovative new design which retains the same level of luxury as a typical Stagecoach Express coach with leather reclining seats, free wifi access, USB charging points, air conditioning and a luggage hold, whilst the front half of the vehicle features low level seating, improving accessibility for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues.

The new coaches will be used on the X56 route, serving Perth, Milnathort, Kinross, Kelty, Halbeath Park & Ride and Ferrytoll Park & Ride, offering journeys up to every hour to the capital.

Paul Thomas, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: "The 5 new vehicles for the X56 route, feature leather reclining seats, free wifi access, USB charging points, air conditioning and a luggage hold. This new vehicle investment demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative, new vehicles and improving wheelchair accessibility on one of our routes to Edinburgh. It's important that we continue investing in our fleet across East Scotland and make improvements wherever we can to provide accessible luxury travel for our passengers."

To celebrate the investment, Stagecoach will be hosting a family event on Friday 20th July 2018. The event will be held from 10am to 2pm outside Perth Concert Hall and will include kids entertainment, giveaways and will showcase one of the new style coaches for the community to experience.

Stagecoach recently introduced 10 of the same coaches in West Fife and were launched by the Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP.

These coaches will form part of Stagecoach East Scotland's wider, award winning Express City Connect Network. The network operates high-quality services across Fife and into Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Glasgow.

Stagecoach offer a vast range of great value tickets including single, return, daily, weekly and monthly tickets. Dayrider and megarider tickets provide unlimited travel for either one day or one week, ideal for commuters and daytrippers.
