This October sees the return of a popular scheme which helps families with young children in the Dundee area to minimise travel costs during the school holidays.
Stagecoach East Scotland has once again teamed up with Dundee City Council and other local bus operators to offer a reduced 20p fare to children when they’re travelling with an adult or concession ticket holder.
Launched in 2017 and originally planned as a one-off, the initiative was so successful that it was extended into 2018 for each holiday period.
Covering all journeys in the ABC Dundee ticket zone, the scheme is backed by Smarter Choices Smarter Places, Dundee City Council, Stagecoach East Scotland, Xplore Dundee, and Moffat and Williamson.
Douglas Robertson, Commercial Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: "This initiative makes a real difference to young families in the Dundee area and we're delighted to be a part of it again. Dundee has so many fantastic free and low-cost places to visit by bus – the brilliant new V&A to mention just one.
“It is so important to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get out and have fun during the October holidays and by offering reduced bus travel for children we can help to make that a reality."
Running from Saturday 6 October to Sunday 21 October, the scheme will allow families to enjoy a day out and discover the city by bus. Up to three under 16s are allowed per adult/concession holder and this includes people using season tickets and weekly passes to travel.
