Stagecoach East Scotland driver Sandy Smith from Dunfermline Depot recently lost a whopping 14% of his total bodyweight during The Biggest Loser Challenge.
Sandy lost the weight through a combination of healthy eating, using a calorie tracking app and walking. The friendly competition with colleagues encouraged all participants to try their best and to keep going until the end of the challenge.
After the competition ended, Sandy and a group of 28 other drivers, engineering and admin staff from Dunfermline Depot were astonished to learn that they had lost a combined total of 19 stone.
The Biggest Loser Challenge took place from January until March 2019, with over 800 members of Stagecoach staff taking part across the UK. In total, 3339.84 kilos (over 525 stone) were lost across the company.
David Frenz, Operations Director, Stagecoach East Scotland, said: “The aim was to help those people who wanted to lose a few pounds to do so in a safe and sensible way with some support from their colleagues.
“The health and wellbeing of our employees is incredibly important to us. With initiatives like the Biggest Loser Challenge, free fruit Fridays and our discounted gym membership scheme, we aim to support them in living healthy lifestyles every day.”
As a reward for being the Stagecoach East Scotland employee with the highest percentage of body weight lost, Sandy was presented with a voucher for a spa weekend.
