Stagecoach East is pleased to confirm that industrial action planned by the Unite union involving drivers at its Bedford depot has been suspended following positive talks with local management this morning.
Bus services will now run as normal on Monday 6 October and Wednesday 8 October.
Members of Unite will be balloted on a restructured pay and conditions package, which has been recommended for acceptance by the union, on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. It is expected that strike action planned for Tuesday 14 October would also be cancelled if the deal is accepted.
Andy Campbell, Managing Director for Stagecoach East, said: "The talks we held with Unite this morning were very productive and we are pleased they have suspended this industrial action. This is good news for our passengers.
"The union has recommended the latest pay offer to its members and we hope it will be accepted."
