Stagecoach Manchester is celebrating this month after it was announced it will represent the city at this year’s UK Bus Awards ceremony, due to be held this November, in London.
The only Manchester based bus operator to be shortlisted for the ‘Top City Operator of the Year’ award, Stagecoach Manchester is also in the running for the prestigious ‘UK Bus Operator of the Year’ award – a title it currently holds from the 2013 awards.
Stagecoach Manchester has also previously been recognised as runner up in the ‘Top City Operator of the Year’ award at the UK Bus Awards in 2009 and 2012, as well as being highly commended in 2011.
In addition, Stagecoach’s Service Performance Manager has been shortlisted for the ‘Unsung Hero’ award. Chris Icely, from Urmston, has been nominated following his 36 years of dedication to the industry.
Christopher Bowles, managing director of Stagecoach Manchester, said: “Winning last year was a huge accolade for us, so to be recognised for the fifth time is a credit to the hard work of the whole team.
“Since January 2013 we have introduced 78 new electric hybrid double-deck buses and new routes, opening up our services to more areas in Manchester, this shortlist nomination proves we are still focusing on the most important part of our business – the customers.
“Chris’s shortlist place also demonstrates the strength we have within our individual team members. His 36 years of service have demonstrated his commitment to the company, its customers, and the employees he has supported. We wish him all the best at the awards.”
