Stagecoach Manchester employees, Steven Robinson and Mike Bones, were amongst the winners at the annual Stagecoach Group Champions Awards.
The awards – now in their sixth year – recognise excellence over six areas including Safety, Health, Community, Customer Service, Environment and Innovation.
At this year’s ceremony, Steven was awarded the Bronze Environment Champion award having been instrumental in turning a depot waste ground into a staff recreational area with a covered bicycle station. Mike also won a Bronze award for Innovation for developing a modified air and water separator filter, which solves the problem of injectors becoming blocked with fluid designed to reduce emissions from bus engines. The device, which can unblock the system in minutes, has now been shared with other depots.
Winners at the event represented Stagecoach Group’s bus, rail, tram and coach businesses in Europe and North America. All received a trophy, cash prize and a two night stay in London incorporating the award ceremony.
Stagecoach Manchester managing director, Christopher Bowles, said: “These awards pays tribute to Steven and Mike’s continued hard work, both while on regular duty and also for going that extra mile, and I would like to thank them for their exceptional service to Stagecoach Manchester.”
Around 125 Stagecoach employees have been presented with Champions Awards over the past six years.
