11 Dec 2017

Stagecoach operations manager, Stuart Roughley, received a special commendation in the Unsung Hero category at this year's UK Bus Awards in recognition of a stellar 39 year career in the industry.

Stuart, who operates Stagecoach Manchester’s Stockport depot, joined the company in 1978, with his current role at Stockport seeing him lead 425 drivers, 10 allocators, four managers and two administrators.

He’s described by colleagues as an inspiring leader, helping to coach a company record of 14 management trainees including a number who now hold very senior positions.

Stagecoach Manchester managing director, Elisabeth Tasker, said: “Stuart has been invaluable to Stagecoach Manchester for the last 20 years and his hard work, dedication and passion for the job have seen him rightfully recognised with a special commendation. He’s been integral in helping to nurture members of staff who hold senior positions within the company.”

Stuart Roughley, operations director at the Stockport depot, said: “It’s been a great privilege to help coach some of the best talent this company has to offer. We’re continually working hard to improve our service for local people in Stockport and I hope this award is seen as recognition for the tireless work our full team here does to make our services the best they can be.”
