Wigan Depot Manager Wins Silver Medal at the UK Bus Awards

Stagecoach operations manager, Mark Mageean, won the silver medal at the UK Bus Awards final in the Young Manager of the Year category.

Mark, who operates Stagecoach Manchester’s Wigan depot, was appointed to the role in autumn 2014, following his successful turnaround of the company's Middleton depot, which was newly acquired at the time. 
During his three years in Wigan, Mark has used feedback from staff as well as his own analytical insight into GPS data to improve punctuality. In addition, his commitment in delivering the highest standards of customer service combined with overseeing improvements to the Wigan depot saw him impress the judges and walk away with the silver award. 
Stagecoach Manchester managing director, Elisabeth Tasker, said: “Mark has worked tirelessly over the last few years to help significantly improve the Wigan depot, both in terms of employee and customer relations. His expert insight has meant punctuality is now better than when he arrived in Wigan and local people are benefitting from higher quality customer service thanks to Mark’s input.” 
Mark Mageean, operations director at the Wigan depot, said: “Over the last three years I’ve worked on making sure customers have a more relaxed ride using Stagecoach services and that taking one of our services continues to be one of the most practical and affordable ways to travel around the region. In addition, I’ve tried to make coming to work a more enjoyable experience for our staff and I’m very honoured to see that work has been recognised.”
