Stagecoach Manchester Steps In To Light Up Christmas For Northenden

28 Nov 2019

Stagecoach Manchester has stepped in to support the Northenden Neighbourhood Forum and light up Christmas for the community by sponsoring its Christmas switch on.

The big switch on will take place on Sunday 1st December at Northenden Social Club and will see the Northenden Choir and the Northenden Pipe band take to the stage as well as an appearance from some very special guests including Santa and his elves to help spread the festive cheer.

As well as being lead sponsor, Stagecoach Manchester will be sending its very own singing Santa along with his wheelie-good mobile grotto, so that the children of Northenden can enjoy meeting the man himself.

The event, taking place between 11:00 – 18:00 hrs, will host a full of a range of festivities for everyone - from children’s amusements and crafts to gift stalls and the chance to meet Santa. The lights will be switched on at 15:30 so make sure you come along and join in on the festivities.

Carole Bond, member of the Northenden Neighbourhood Forum, said: “We’re so thankful to the team at Stagecoach Manchester who agreed to step in and help us. Each year we have to raise money to hire lighting and create a community event to light up Northenden for Christmas so without support from businesses our fundraising efforts would be so much harder. The children will be fascinated to see Santa in his grotto on a bus – it’s a brilliant addition to the event!”

Elisabeth Tasker, Stagecoach Manchester managing director, said: “It’s festivities like this that bring people together and we know how important it is to celebrate and support events that the whole community can get behind. As a result, we are delighted to be involved in this year’s event and look forward to seeing people down there on Sunday 1st December.

“We completely renovated the grotto bus last year to serve as a way to help children and families enjoy the festivities – and it’s great to see the bus back out this year for the community of Northenden to enjoy and meet Santa.”
