Stagecoach Manchester recently visited three local schools to talk to children and spread awareness about the importance of public transport
Stalyhill Infant School, St Margaret’s Catholic Primary School and St James C of E Primary School were treated to a visit from a Stagecoach Manchester bus.
The visit was to introduce the children to a bus as many of them had never been on one.
Operations Director Rebecca Rathore along with Bus Drivers Andrew Hartley and Karl Vella hosted a Q&A session, where the children had the opportunity to ask transport-related questions such as: “How often do you get to beep the horn?” and “How often do you need to fill the bus with petrol?” Andrew and Karl also spoke to pupils about their role as bus drivers.
Jennie Schofield, Teacher at St James C of E Primary school said: “We were delighted to be joined by Stagecoach Manchester this week. The drivers fully engaged our students and they found out a lot of interesting facts about public transport.”
Leah Plant, Teacher at Stalyhill Infants school added: “A huge thank you to Stagecoach Manchester for taking the time to join us today. Our students found this extremely interesting and loved exploring the bus!”
The pupils were invited to climb aboard the bus, with many getting the chance to sit in the driver's seat. Stagecoach also handed out goodie bags to the students which included high-vis Stagecoach snap bands and a cardboard build your own bus for the children to design and assemble.
Rebecca Rathore, Operations Director at Stagecoach Manchester added: “At Stagecoach, we put our community first and believe delivering amazing customer service goes beyond the daily bus service. It’s great for the children to be given the chance to try the bus and hopefully encourage them to use public transport in the future.”
