Stagecoach Manchester and its employees have been shortlisted across five categories in the 2023 UK Bus Awards.
The accolades, which champion outstanding service and achievement within the bus industry, were established 26 years ago and have since recognised over 450 top award winners throughout the UK.
This year, Stagecoach Manchester and its employees were finalists across an impressive five categories:
- Unsung Hero – Nick Painter, Assistant Operations Manager at Hyde Road Depot
- Young Manager of the Year – Richard Greaves, Operations Manager at Hyde Road Depot
- Manager of the Year – Mark Mageean, Commercial Manager
- Top National Bus Depot – Middleton Depot
- Partnership for Excellence – Parklife
Nick Painter has been nominated as Unsung Hero for his ongoing service to his depot and community. Nick has more than 25 years of service in the transport industry and has managed staff across several Manchester depots, most prominently at Hyde Road where he is today as Assistant Operations Manager. He is a proud advocate of supporting health and wellbeing and has also raised thousands of pounds in fundraising for several local charities throughout his career.
Richard Greaves has been nominated for Young Manager of The Year. After joining Stagecoach’s graduate scheme in 2019, Richard has rapidly ascended the ranks, amassing invaluable experience in various roles across the UK. This culminated in his recent appointment as Operations Manager at Hyde Road Depot in Manchester, one of the country's largest bus depots. Richard has responsibility for 500 employees and nearly 200 vehicles.
Another finalist in this year’s awards is Commercial Manager, Mark Mageean, who has been recognised in the Manager of The Year category. Demonstrating his commitment to diversity, Mark is dedicated to coaching and mentoring his team. His operational background and eagerness to learn have led him to take on additional responsibilities and he has played an integral role in both franchising and the successful delivery of transport services at this year’s Parklife Festival.
Stagecoach Manchester’s Middleton’s depot has been nominated for the Top National Bus Depot. Since Stagecoach took over the operations at Middleton ten years ago, the 129-strong team at the depot have been instrumental in focusing on customer service and providing the best travel experience for their customers.
The final nomination is Stagecoach Manchester’s partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester and Engine No 4 at the 2023 Parklife Festival. This partnership showcases the power of proactive collaboration, not only in the context of mass event transportation but also for the operation of regular bus services during a major event.
