Face coverings are compulsory when using public transport in England and Scotland. In Wales you must wear a 3 layer face covering on public transport and put it on before travelling unless you are exempt. It is also now compulsory to wear face coverings when using indoor public transport hubs in England only.

Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire has announced that it is lowering fares across Wirral and St Helens.

The changes follow the firm’s decision to roll out its existing Liverpool flat fare structure throughout Merseyside.

Stagecoach has cut the cost of its adult single journeys in St Helens and Wirral to just £2, saving customers up to 90p per trip. Under 19s can enjoy an unlimited single journey for just £1. The fare changes came into effect on May 1st .

Journeys to and from Liverpool through the Mersey Tunnel will remain at £3 for adults and £1.50 for under 19’s.

The fare cuts are part of Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire’s commitment to providing quality and affordable transport throughout the region.

Elisabeth Tasker, Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire managing director, said: “We recognise the importance of providing a reliable and affordable bus service option for customers and we’re delighted to be increasing savings even further for passengers in Wirral and St Helens.

This is great news for bus users and we’re keen to push these savings out to all of our passengers across the region.”

£1.50 adult and £80p under 19’s single fares will still be available for customers who have previously paid less than £2 for their local journeys in Wirral.

Weekly megariders will remain at £13.50 throughout Merseyside with under 19's weekly megariders priced at just £6.80.
