Stagecoach introduces discounted evening ticket for Sunderland passengers this October

04 Oct 2017

Bus passengers in Sunderland will now get the chance to experience low-cost evening travel across the city as Stagecoach North East launches a new eveningrider ticket.

The local bus operator has introduced the special offer from 1st October for the whole month, with eveningrider tickets available after 7pm for £2.

The ticket is valid on all evening Stagecoach services throughout Sunderland, including E1, E2 and E6 services as far as South Bents, and on the X24 express service between Sunderland and Newcastle.

The service provides a perfect opportunity for residents in Sunderland to visit some of the city’s most iconic events next month, including the Sunderland Illuminations starting on Thursday 5th October and the Abba-inspired musical, Mamma Mia at the Sunderland Empire from 17th October.

Early Christmas shoppers can also benefit from the discounted ticket, with The Bridges Shopping Centre open late every Thursday.

Steve Walker, Managing Director at Stagecoach North East, said: “We are delighted to launch this special offer for passengers to enjoy the shopping and entertainment around the city or visit friends during the evening for a very reasonable price.

“The eveningrider represents a further investment from Stagecoach North East and demonstrates our commitment to delivering more choice, more value for money and more opportunities to travel for less within the local community.”

The local bus operator is continuing its service development for customers, following the launch early this year of the X24 inter-urban express service between Sunderland and Newcastle. The service recently reached a milestone of 100,0000th customers and has proven to be a popular route.

Last month, the bus firm also launched more convenient bus travel for bus passengers across Sunderland with the addition of Apple Pay and Google Pay through the Stagecoach Bus smartphone app.

The new payment methods will make it even easier for customers to buy their Stagecoach tickets through the app.
