Stagecoach encourages families to get out and about this summer with 10p travel offer

09 Aug 2018

As the great summer weather continues, a local bus operator is keen to promote all the region has to offer with a bargain travel offer for families in Teesside and Hartlepool.

Stagecoach North East regularly reduces the cost of travel for children under 16 during school holidays and this summer is no exception. With the summer break now under way, the bus company is currently offering families the chance to visit all the great events and attractions with children’s tickets priced at only 10p.

It is part of an effort to encourage families, children and teens to see what’s new in the Stockton, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool areas during the summer holiday and to highlight the value for money that public transport brings across the country.

The offer, which allows up to two children under 16 to travel for 10p each when accompanied by an adult ticket holder, or up to four children under five to go free, is valid until 2 September. This means that families can get out and about and enjoy the sunny weather without the hassle of driving and parking.

There are many activities and places to visit across the Tees Valley, ranging from quad biking in Greatham, Vue Cinema at Hartlepool Marina and the miles of golden sand and seaside fun in Seaton Carew.

For older children, Middlesbrough’s new Project Escape at Dundas Shopping Centre, provides real life experiences in escape, games solving puzzles and discovering clues. The town’s popular multi-cultural Mela festival is also taking place on 11 and 12 Aug for all the family, with music, food and entertainment for all.

In Stockton, kids can cool down at Splash’s swimming pool or take to the ice at Billingham Forum’s ice skating rink. There are also great green spaces to explore and enjoy picnics, with Ropner Park, Wynyard Woodland and Billingham Beck Valley Country Park on the doorstep.

10p tickets can be purchased from the driver when using any of the following adult tickets: Teesside daytripper, Hartlepool dayrider, Teesside/Hartlepool dayrider Plus, Teesside megarider, Hartlepool megarider and the Teesside/Hartlepool megarider Plus.

Nathan Stanislawski, Operations Manager at Stagecoach North East’s Teesside depot, said: “The 10p children’s ticket is always popular as it allows the younger and older generations to spend time together as families and explore the many great places and spaces within our community. With this exceptionally great weather we are having, now is the time to leave the car at home, pack a picnic or enjoy fish and chips and save money while keeping the kids entertained this summer.

“This promotion provides families with a great incentive to make the most of public transport, whether it is to meet up with friends, visit family members or experience the many places of interest.”
