Students can keep moving for less with cheaper travel

27 Sep 2018

Stagecoach North East is helping students in the north east to save their pennies, as it once again offers its popular unirider ticket which provides unlimited travel from just 89p per day.

As the new terms starts and students start to think about how to manage their budget, the unirider ticket from Stagecoach North East means students can hop on and off any Stagecoach bus anywhere in the region, including Newcastle, Sunderland, South Shields, Teesside and Hartlepool.

For students who are new to the area or even people familiar with their own town, the discounted ticket is perfect for making the most of the social and academic life, bringing cheap and safe travel for those exploring the many attractions the region has to offer.

Parents who want to help out with finances or students who want to save time looking for change can purchase annual unirider tickets online for £270, which are loaded onto a StagecoachSmart student card and can easily be bought online. A student ID card is still required when boarding the bus.

Term tickets are also available throughout the academic year at the online price of £117, meaning students wishing to return to their hometown during holiday periods still benefit from great savings. All tickets can be purchased at

Offering great value, annual tickets are valid from now until 30th June 2019, giving 303 days of affordable travel. Unirider now represents better value than ever before; with tickets also valid on the new night bus service on Friday and Saturday nights in Newcastle, until around 3am.

Steve Walker, Managing Director, Stagecoach North East, said: “We recognise that for new students, this exciting time in their lives is a major change for them and their families, as they take the first step into independence. They may have left home and be living in an unfamiliar town or city and also looking after their own finances.

“Unirider tickets can bring peace of mind to both parents and students as they enable unlimited travel all year round, meaning getting to lectures on time, shopping for food or making the most of the nightlife are all that much easier and safer. With tickets available for each term or the full year, students can concentrate on their studies and having fun instead of getting stressed with traffic, finding their way around and parking.”
