Coronavirus Update Close

We all need to do whatever we can to protect each other from Coronavirus, so in line with the latest government guidance, there are measures in place to help you to travel with confidence, including limiting available seats on buses and enhanced cleaning. Unless you’re exempt, you must wear a face covering when using public transport, throughout your journey. Please avoid busy times, use contactless payment where you can and take your litter with you. For up to date information see our Coronavirus page.

There are temporary timetables in Wales between 25 October and 9 November due to a two-week Welsh Government lockdown.

Stagecoach North East announce free Remembrance Day travel for armed forces

08 Nov 2019

On Remembrance Day, the local bus company will be offering free travel to armed forces personnel carrying a military ID card and to veterans carrying a veteran's badge.

Thousands of people will be gathering at Remembrance Day services to pay their respects and honour the memory of those who lost their lives fighting for their country, on Sunday 10 November.

With services planned across the north east, it is hoped that personnel will take up the offer to travel across the region to their local memorial service. More information about remembrance events throughout the region can be found at www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/remembrance-events/remembrance-sunday.

Steve Walker, Managing Director, Stagecoach North East, said: "We are proud to be supporting Remembrance Sunday by providing free travel for Armed Forces personnel and veterans. Through our support, we hope we can send a clear message to our Armed Forces communities, past and present, in the North East that we recognise the commitment they have made to our country."

In 2015, Stagecoach Group signed the Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in support of the Armed Forces Community. As a signatory of the Covenant, the company recognises the value of serving personnel; regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to both the country and businesses across the country.
