Open top decker returns to the Orkney Isles

10 Jun 2016

An open top double decker will be returning to the Stagecoach fleet on Orkney for the summer season.

The open top bus will welcome aboard passengers daily on the scheduled summer tour route from 6th June.

The tour will visit popular tourist attractions such as Skara Brae and The Ring of Brodgar. Passengers can explore what life was like during Neolithic times at Skara Brae and visit the breathtaking white beach of the Bay of Skaill.

Tickets for the open top tour will cost £8.30 which is the same price as an Orkney dayrider. The dayrider ticket offers unlimited travel on any Stagecoach bus on Orkney. Tickets are available from the driver.

Stagecoach in the Highlands operate local bus routes on Orkney and have previously taken a standard double decker bus onto the island in 2010. The double decker proved very popular with tourists and locals, running to a number of local shows while it was in operation.

Steve Walker, Managing Director, Stagecoach North Scotland said: "We are delighted to bring the open top decker back to Orkney for the summer season. The islands offer some spectacular scenery which will be admired even more from the top deck."
