£1.7 million vehicle upgrade for Stagecoach JET 727 service

Stagecoach North Scotland have unveiled a fleet of 8 brand new double deckers that are to operate between Aberdeen city centre and Aberdeen Airport.

Greig Mackay, Deputy Director of Bus Users Scotland launched the 8 British-built Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 double deckers at St Nicholas Square on Thursday 5th May.

The new vehicles mark a £1.7 million investment from Stagecoach North Scotland and are set to be a welcome upgrade to passengers, boasting leather seats, easy access, free wi-fi and USB charging points. Extra seating and luggage racks will also be an addition set to please daily commuters travelling on the route which operates up to every 10 minutes through the day.

The new double deckers will replace single decker buses that currently operate on the route between the city centre and Aberdeen Airport. The service is an integral connection for commuters, offering a greener, smarter and more cost effective alternative to the car. The buses serve every stop between Union Square and Bucksburn making commuting by bus easier than ever.

The new vehicles are equipped with the most up to date vehicle tracking system which means passengers will be able to track exactly when their bus will arrive by looking up their bus stop in the 'bus stops nearby' section of

The distinctive JET 727 livery has been refreshed by the Stagecoach team based in Aberdeen to compliment the new double deckers.

Steve Walker, Managing Director, Stagecoach North Scotland said: “We're committed to investing in passenger experience and are confident that the new vehicles will be a welcome upgrade to our current JET 727 passengers. We hope that the new vehicles coupled with the indefinite fares discount in Aberdeen zone 1 will encourage more people to choose the bus for their journey."
