Stagecoach North Scotland today announced plans to maintain a bus service between Findhorn, Kinloss and Forres for the time being. It will be essential that customers make use of the service Stagecoach has decided to retain.
Following a public consultation earlier in the month the local bus operator has taken the time to review the feedback provided by customers in Moray. Over 300 people wrote to the company to give feedback on the proposals released on 27th February, in addition to those who attended local events to give feedback.
In the plans announced on 27th February it was proposed that the bus service between Forres, Kinloss and Findhorn was to be withdrawn from 1st May 2017. This was because the service has been recording significant financial losses and was no longer sustainable in its current form.
Since the consultation ended on 10th March Stagecoach has continued discussions with Moray Council as well as local MSP's to investigate all potential alternatives to maintain a service to the local communities.
As a result of an extensive review of the existing service and taking heed about the value of a service to the local community, a new service 31 will begin on Monday 8th May and will link Findhorn and Kinloss to Forres Monday to Saturday. The new service will provide links for residents in Findhorn and Kinloss to the Forres Medical Centre and Tesco. The first service will depart Findhorn at 0740 with the last service terminating in Findhorn at 1758. Customers will be able to make onward travel to Elgin and Inverness in Forres using Service 10 and the improved Service 11.
The revised timetable was originally planned to start on 1st May, however, it will now begin on 8 May due to the additional time taken to find a workable solution which was agreed by Stagecoach today (Wednesday 29 March).
