The cost of some SmartZone tickets will change from Sunday 29th January 2017.
The SmartZone bus companies (Oxford Bus Company, Stagecoach and Thames Travel) have been able to keep the increases to a minimum and have been able to freeze the prices of the popular 5 day and 12 trip tickets. Adult weekly tickets, which have not increased for three years , will increase by 49p.
Other changes include a 99p increase for 4 weeks, £2.99 to a 13 weeks and £20.99 for an annual ticket, which continues to offer a substantial discount of 39%.
The average cost of a bus journey with an Oxford SmartZone ticket will still be under £1.
In a joint statement the Oxford SmartZone operators said, “Over the past 12 months road works and worsening traffic congestion continued to affect our services and as a result the costs of operation have also gone up.
“Investment across the network has continued with new buses, technology and routes being introduced in the past year”.
Oxford SmartZone is a scheme involving Oxford Bus Company, Stagecoach and Thames Travel offering multi-operator ticketing on bus routes operating mainly in the Oxford City area.
