Boxing Day Buses
Stagecoach has announced a raft of bus services for Boxing Day this year. Buses will run on popular routes across east Kent, some for the first time in over 40 years.

Having successfully operated the Thanet Loop bus route on Boxing Day for the last three years, Stagecoach has decided to trial the roll out of buses on a further three routes this year.

Bus passengers will be able to enjoy ‘a touch of gold’ on Boxing Day for the first time. The luxury Gold route 16 buses will be running an hourly service between Hythe, Folkestone and Canterbury.

The popular ‘Triangle’ route linking Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay, will also operate on Boxing Day. There’ll be buses every hour ferrying shoppers to and from the popular coastal towns.

Over 4,000 people used the Thanet Loop bus service on Boxing Day last year. This year shoppers will be able to catch Loop buses every 20 minutes throughout the day. In addition, route 8 buses will be running hourly between Cliftonville and Canterbury (through Margate).

Philip Norwell, managing director of Stagecoach South East said: “We recognise that many people don’t want to get the car out and drive on Boxing Day, but still want to go shopping or visit relatives. We’ve already established a popular Boxing Day service on the Thanet Loop, now we're testing the water and trying out Boxing Day services on our other popular routes.”

Boxing Day timetables are available to view online or by picking up a leaflet on the bus or from Canterbury travel shop.
