There are temporary timetables in Wales between 25 October and 9 November due to a two-week Welsh Government lockdown.

New buses Breeze into Thanet

11 Apr 2016

  • £2.6 million investment in 13 brand new high-spec double deck buses
  • Ultramodern vehicles feature free customer wifi and usb charging points
  • Latest clean engine technology reduces particle emissions by 99%
  • Buses hit the road from Monday on popular ‘Breeze’ route

Stagecoach customers in Thanet can now enjoy an even more comfortable bus ride as the company have launched a brand new fleet of buses.

£2.6 million worth of ultramodern double deck buses were introduced on the popular ‘Breeze’ route between Broadstairs, Margate and Canterbury on Monday (11 April). The 13 new state-of-the-art vehicles are designed to accommodate passengers in comfort and convenience. As well as being more environmentally friendly, the buses feature free wifi and usb charging points for customers to recharge their smart phones whilst travelling. Each bus is equipped with air-chill technology which maintains a comfortable interior temperature whatever the season.

The new buses come less than three years after Stagecoach invested £3m in new buses for the Thanet Loop. Stagecoach South East managing director Philip Norwell said: “This investment represents the next stage of enhancement in an area that continues to see more and more people choosing to use the bus.”
Stagecoach says that the Breeze route carried 1.9 million passengers in 2015, saving vast numbers of car journeys.

Mr Norwell added “We know that providing a quality bus service doesn’t just mean comfortable seats. These new high-spec buses will contribute to our customers’ overall journey experience as well as reducing our impact on the environment.”

The new buses have Euro 6 specification engines which represent the very latest in clean engine technology. Scania, the vehicle manufacturer, have developed an after-treatment system which reduces particle emissions by 99% compared to the previous design standard.

For comfort the buses come with high-back moquette fabric seats and tinted windows to reduce the build-up of heat inside. On the outside the buses sport an attractive design which features some of Thanet’s most popular landmarks.

Breeze route 8, 8A and 8X buses run up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays.
