Newer and bigger double deck buses equipped with free wifi have hit the road in Eastbourne. Stagecoach has upgraded buses on the popular 1/1A route and made adjustments to the timetable to improve reliability.
Passengers travelling on the buses linking Hamlands and Old Town with Langney and Shinewater through the town centre, will now be able to enjoy riding in comfort on one of 12 modern, easy access buses. The double deckers are replacing the smaller single deck vehicles that previously operated on the route. As well as offering more capacity, the buses feature a new ‘ONE’ branded livery and free wifi for those wanting to get online while travelling.
Philip Norwell, managing director of Stagecoach South East said: "We continually review our timetables to ensure we operate punctually and are pleased to respond to customer feedback by providing extra capacity. This upgrade to the fleet reflects our ongoing commitment to providing quality bus travel in Eastbourne."
Stagecoach has simplified the timetable by separating the buses that extend to Hailsham and Roebuck Park into a new route. Route 1X will now run between Eastbourne town centre and Roebuck Park through Langney Rise, Stone Cross and Hailsham. Some bus times on the ‘Loop’ have also been adjusted to improve reliability.
The new timetables are available to view online on the all new stagecoachbus.com where you can check live bus times and plan your journey. Printed timetable leaflets are available to pick up on buses and from local outlets.
