Go topless in Eastbourne this summer

10 May 2018

Eastbourne Open TopAn open-top bus route will be returning to Eastbourne this summer. Visitors and locals alike will be able to sit back and savour the bracing sea views from the open-air top deck of the number 6 bus.

The new route, which starts on Saturday 26 May, will run every day during the school holidays and at weekends between South Harbour and Holywell. An open-top double decker will give a jaunty feel to the journey taking in the town’s finest seaside attractions. Passengers will be able to hop on and off at bus stops all along the route which takes in Prince William Parade, Royal Parade, Grand Parade and King Edward’s Parade.

Krystian Kaczala, Stagecoach local operations manager said “We wanted to celebrate Eastbourne’s seaside vibe by doing something special. Open-top buses were a popular part of the summer scene along the south coast, so we’ve decided to recreate a bit of nostalgia and a lot of fun for the summer holiday.”

The service will operate hourly throughout the day with a single adult fare costing £3 and accompanied children just £1 each. Stagecoach hopes that if the open-top bus proves popular they’ll be able to run it again next summer.

Route 6 buses will operate daily from Saturday 26 May until 3 June and then on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 June to 15 July. It will resume a daily service throughout the summer holiday from 21 July to 2 September. Timetables are available at local outlets, on buses and online at
