Easter activities for all the family!

Spring has finally arrived! It’s time to ditch that winter coat and head out into the great outdoors. There’s no more excuses for the kids now; the weather is warming up and here at Stagecoach, we’re determined to get them outdoors and exploring this Easter.

Here are some of our favourite Easter half term activities that are great for all the family:

 

Kent & East Sussex Railway: LEGO Brick Civilisations

Date: Sat 6 April – Mon 22 April

easter blog kesrCivilisations is an innovative and entertaining LEGO touring show with 40 stunning LEGO models including life-size human figures from a range of civilisations through-out history. The lifelike appearance of figures in colourful costumes and intriguing poses creates a real ‘wow’ factor as well as being educational and informative.

 
Getting there by bus...

This Easter come nose-to-nose with British Wildlife past and present. With over 200 native animals set in 40 acres of beautiful ancient woodland you can see the likes of Bears, Wolves, Bison, Badgers, Wild Boar and much more. Children can go wild in the amazing playground with Kent’s biggest drop slide, tube slide, wild fort, tree-top towers and more! 

Getting there by bus...
Stagecoach ‘Triangle’ buses serve Wildwood every 15 minutes throughout the day. The buses run from Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay. To plan your bus journey, use the Stagecoach journey   planner here.

 

 

The Canterbury Tales: Medieval Story Garden

Date: Sat 6 April – Sun 21 April
Time: From 11am to 3pm
Cost: From £8.95

easter blog canterbury talesThis Easter, The Canterbury Tales visitor attraction will reopen the gates to its Medieval Story Garden where families will join in the Knights Tournament! Children and grown-ups alike can practice their battle skills through a series of activities.

Sword skills, mock jousting, medieval remedies and more will all be explored during this fun family activity.


Getting there by bus...
Stagecoach runs buses from all around east Kent into Canterbury. There are frequent buses throughout the daytime from most towns and The Canterbury Tales is a short walk into the city from the main bus station. To plan your bus journey, use the Stagecoach journey planner here.

 

 

Dreamland: Camp Bestival

Date: Sat 6 April – Mon 22 April
Time: 10am to 6pm
Cost: Free entry

dreamlandgenericThe UK’s coolest amusement park is joining forces with the UK’s favourite family festival, Camp Bestival, for a park takeover this Easter. Camp Bestival is bringing a taste of its much-loved family festival to Dreamland with live music, rides, and extravagant entertainment for all the family. 


Getting there by bus...
Dreamland is served by route 8, 8A and 8X buses every 15 minutes during the daytime with buses up to 22:15 in the evening. To plan your bus journey, use the Stagecoach journey   planner here.  

 

Thanet Open-Top

Date: Sat 6 April - Sun 29 September

Cost: £2 for adults & £1 for children

The hugely popular route 69 open-top bus will be returning to Thanet just in time for Easter. Take in the coastal views with some fresh sea air! 

For a ride on the open-top bus, you can buy single tickets. These tickets are for a single journey the length of the route, or between any two intermediate stops. Single tickets can be purchased on the bus from the bus driver and cost just £2 for adults and £1 for children.

You can also buy a dayrider ticket which allows use of route 69 bus plus other Stagecoach buses in the Thanet dayrider zone all day. Thanet dayrider tickets can be purchased on the bus from the bus driver or on the   Stagecoach Bus App

Bodiam Castle: Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

Date: Sat 6 April – Mon 22 April
Time: 10am to 4pm
Cost: £3 per hunter – normal admission charges apply

Bring the family to Bodiam Castle this Easter and join in our nature inspired Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt. With spring bringing everything to life, this is a great time to get out and about and start your quest to find out more about nature.

Pick up your Easter Egg Hunt sheet on arrival and set off on your hunt. For all those who complete their Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt there a delicious Cadbury chocolate treat awaiting you as a prize. 

Getting there by bus...
You’ll need to catch the number 349 bus which runs hourly on Saturdays and every two hours on Sundays. Buses run from Hawkhurst or Hastings and on Sundays from Cranbrook too. To plan your bus journey, use the Stagecoach journey   planner here.

 

 

1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey & Battlefield: Easter Adventure Quest

Date: Sat 6 April – Mon 22 April
Time: 10am to 5pm
Cost: £1 per child – normal admission charges apply.

easter blog 1066Join the hunt for dragon eggs on a legendary quest this Easter holiday. Crack the clues as you and your family follow the trail around the Abbey Grounds. Intrepid adventurers who track down the dragon egg will get a certificate and a sticker to prove it, and there’ll be a chocolate treat too! 

Getting there by bus...
You'll need to catch the number 304/305 bus which runs hourly on weekdays and Saturdays. There are no Sunday buses on routes 304/305. To plan your bus journey, use the Stagecoach journey planner here.
