Keep the kids entertained over the school holiday with a fun-filled February half-term. Spark their curiosity with special interactive activities, come nose-to-nose with British wildlife or visit must-see exhibitions for the whole family. You’ll find plenty of things to do during the half-term week across Kent & East Sussex to suit all budgets and ages.


Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO Bricks

Bricks Britannia will feature 30 stunning models built by Bright Bricks, the leading company for LEGO brick creations, which will include a show stopping model of the Flying Scotsman, the world’s most famous steam locomotive and iconic moments in British history, from the Stone Age to the 21st Century. 

Your entry ticket will also include a unique opportunity to dive in and let your imagination run wild with a 70,000 piece LEGO Brick Pit! This interactive exhibition caters for all ages and advance booking is recommended. 

Getting there by bus...

Stagecoach runs buses from all around east Kent into Canterbury. There are frequent buses throughout the daytime from most towns and The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge is a short walk into the city from the main bus station. To plan your bus journey, use the Stagecoach journey   planner here

 

Wildwood Trust

This half-term come nose-to-nose with British Wildlife past and present. With over 200 native animals set in 40 acres of beautiful ancient woodland you can see the likes of Bears, Wolves, Bison, Badgers, Wild Boar and much more.   Children can go wild in the amazing playground with Kent’s biggest drop slide, tube slide, wild fort, tree-top towers and more!

Getting there by bus...

Secrets & Spies at Dover Castle 

Date:  Mon 18 February to Fri 22 February

Time:  10am until 3pm

Calling all super sleuths, private detectives and investigators; do you have what it takes to become a master code breaker this February half-term? Join WWII detectives for an explanation of ciphers, tools used for secret communication during wartime. Head out into the castle and take on the challenge of breaking Dover’s codes with all the new skills you’ve acquired! This half-term don’t miss the chance to sharpen your detective skills with hands-on training in codes and clues.

Tickets for this event will be available to purchase at the site on the day.

 

Getting there by bus..

You’ll need Stagecoach bus route 80 or 81 for Dover Castle. The buses serve the stop at the top of Castle Hill Road just a short walk from the pedestrian entrance to the castle. Route 80/81 buses run every 30 minutes on Saturdays and hourly on Sundays.  The buses run from Dover town centre or from Deal and Sandwich. Dreamland hosts its first ever Children’s Book Festival this half-term. The action-packed line up will include a special appearance from The Gruffalo, plus screenings of film adaptions by Magic Light Pictures, including Room On The Broom, Stick Man, The Highway Rat and their highly-anticipated release Zog! 

Please note this event will take place in Hall By The Sea and the Ballroom. The Octopus’s Garden and Roller Disco/Diner will be open, but are not included with your event ticket. The amusement park and rides will reopen on April 6 2019.  

 

Getting there by bus...

This half-term steam along through the beautiful Kent & East Sussex countryside from Tenterden to Bodiam. Enjoy the Station Refreshment rooms at Tenterden Town that serves cooked breakfast, hot and cold lunches, drinks and snacks between 10:00 - 16:30. 

Your ticket will be valid for travel on any train on the day of issue, but make sure you look after it... because it’s your ticket to a FREE repeat visit! Tickets purchased in advance online for travel in February can be exchanged for another ticket to travel the line later in 2019!*
