Stagecoach unwraps an early Christmas present for Torbay and Newton Abbot

• £5m investment in 22 new buses, 17 dedicated to flagship Hop12 bus route
• Buses feature high backed leather effect seats, free Wi-Fi and USB charging
• All 22 buses were lined up on Paignton seafront today (8 November) for commemorative photographs
• Hop 12 route connects Brixham, Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot up to every 10 minutes, 7 days a week

Stagecoach South West today (8 November) celebrated its investment of £5m in new buses for Torbay with a spectacular photo opportunity involving all 22 vehicles lined up along Paignton Seafront.

All buses feature high backed leather effect seats, free Wi-Fi and USB charging with 17 dedicated to the company’s flagship Hop12 bus route serving Brixham, Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot up to every 10 minutes, 7 days a week.

Local dignitaries attended the photo opportunity and also enjoyed the chance to appreciate the revised livery design and plush new interiors.

Bob Dennison, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, said “It was quite a sight to see all the buses parked along the seafront!

“The new fleet represents a significant investment for Stagecoach in Torbay and Newton Abbot and we were keen for the launch to coincide with the start of seasonal shopping. The customer experience is very important to us and we hope the new buses enhance our passengers’ enjoyment of all the Bay has to offer this Christmas and into the New Year.”

To celebrate the arrival of the new buses, Stagecoach has teamed up with Babbacombe Theatre to offer x3 pairs of tickets to ‘Christmas is Magical’ (29 November performance only, a family variety show features magic, comedy and music. This festive season, Stagecoach is encouraging customers to avoid congestion and parking problems by leaving the car at home and hopping aboard the bus. The introduction of free Wi-Fi and USB charging points on the Hop12 will allow passengers to sit back and relax, whilst also surfing the net and catching up on last minute pre-Christmas prep.

Customers can plan their journey on the Hop12 – and all other South West bus services - by downloading the free Stagecoach app, available in the App and Play stores. Customers can also use the app to buy day or 1 week mobile tickets. Alternatively, they can use the journey planner at www.stagecoachbus.com.
